Connecting Flights (WIN/MAC) Mac OS

Please note that while this article specifically defines the steps necessary to connecting to an ECN drive, it can be used to connect to other SMB and CIFS servers from a Mac as well. Follow the same steps, remembering though to swap out the domain of 'ECN' in the authentication prompt seen below for the domain related to your other server.

We would like to show you a description here but the site won’t allow us. The MAC address is displayed as the Ethernet ID (as shown below). Click the Apple icon on the upper left-hand corner. Select System Preferences. Click the Network icon in Internet & Network section.

But if you can run Windows on your Macintosh computer, you should also be able to run RealFlight. Apple now offers a program called 'Boot Camp' that does allow Macintosh users to dual-boot Windows with Mac OS/OSX. For help installing Windows onto your Mac using Boot Camp, contact Apple Support. 【 本社 】 〒500-8309 岐阜県岐阜市都通4丁目11-1 アシストhdビル5f tel:058-215-5858(採用部門直通) tel:058-253-8610(代表) fax:058-253-8710.

Or if you wish to connect to ITaP home directory servers, information from ITaP's KnowledgeBase pages may be helpful. Check out the link below for more details:

NOTE: If connecting from off campus to an ECN shared drive, you will need a VPN connection.

Navigate to the link below to obtain/update the required software, if it isn't already installed on your system:

This FAQ will demonstrate how to use OS X to connect to SMB and CIFS shared volumes on the ECN network. These instructions can be applied to OS X 10.13.x (as well as other OS X versions reaching back to OS X 10.3.x). Once mapped, the volume should appear on your Desktop. If not, check out the following set of instructions on how to (re)add it there:

NOTE: The following screenshots were taken with Mac OS X 10.11.x (El Capitan), although the instructions and images are applicable to older versions (again reaching back to OS X 10.3.x).

In the Finder, navigate to your Go menu and select Connect to Server..

In the new dialog box, enter the path to the intended server. Typically, the cifs protocol is related to Windows shares where as smb is associated with UNIX. That being said, the smb protocol will work with both OS types.

In this example, I will use the server pier and the share name joesmith. The server address in this case would then be

smb://pier.ecn.purdue.edu/joesmith

All other shares will follow the same format as seen below. If you have questions about whether to use cifs or smb, contact ECN.

smb://servername.ecn.purdue.edu/sharename

cifs://servername.ecn.purdue.edu/sharename

NOTE:IP addresses are also suitable in place of DNS names. Please remember to always use fully qualified domain names as well (//pier.ecn.purdue.edu/sharename as opposed to //pier/sharename).

Click the Connect button. OS X will contact the server and then display a system authentication dialog. Your input will vary depending on whether your local machine account name matches your ECN Career Account alias exactly. If it does, you can simply type the following information to sign in.

  • Name: username
  • Password: (your ECN password)
Connecting Flights (WIN/MAC) Mac OS

Connecting Flights (win/mac) Mac Os 11

If not, you will need to alter the Name field to look like the following:

  • Name: ECNusername
  • Password: (your ECN password)

You may also wish to check 'Remember this password in my keychain,' if you plan to connect frequently or automatically when you log into your machine. Otherwise, you will be asked to enter your password every time.

Click Connect, and the shared drive will mount on your computer. You can find it either on the Desktop with an icon of a three people encased in a clear cube or in your Finder as noted earlier.

If the drive does not automatically appear on the Desktop, check out the following link for instructions on how to display it there: Beachhead 2020 mac os.

Additionally, it is possible to have the drive automatically mount every time you log in. To do so, first find the drive icon on the Desktop or via Finder. Next, open up System Preferences.. from the Apple menu.

Select the Users & Groups icon. Then, click on your user name, and jump to the Login Items tab.

Drag the icon of your shared drive into the list of items, and it will be added and connect automatically when you log in.

One last note! Once you've mapped the drive you need, you should consider creating a shortcut under your 'Favorites' section of Finder (drag and drop the selected folder under 'Favorites.'

Not only will this make your directories easier to access, but it will also help to avoid navigation issues related to permissions within subfolders of your share drives when using File-->Open functionality in various applications.

Please note though that every time you disconnect from a share or lose a network connection to it, you will need to re-add the desired folder(s) to your 'Favorites.'

I have major issues with this programme, I have been banned from my university hub cause DC is not sending them a desription of available tags!

1. Web site of author no longer works. Its blank.
2. Client will not retrieve a list of hubs when public button is pressed.
Even the very war macdc++ client from sourceforge is more useable..but thats awful too.
This software is dead.

I've tried windows DC & DC++ & the mac version really is primitive in comparison. With each OSX update new problems are faced. About time DC for OSX was UPDATED! In fact way over-time to fix it up in preparation for OSX Tiger & get rid of the little problems it has. It's not the most share friendly app either . very temperamental & inconsistent in that & other regards.
(eggroll sounds like you need to forward a port: Look under apple here: http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm)

yeah i got it working, it was pretty simple (im not sure if i did it correctly or if i just managed some sort of jury rig)
anyways,
go > utilities > airport admin utility
select your airport and hit configure
go to the port mapping tab and add a new port
i havent done this in a while, as i havent had my own internet connection, but here's what i remember
public port: 32000
private address:
private port: 32000
if you go to system preferences > network, your airport summary should tell you what private ip has been assigned to your computer by your router. this goes in private address. in my case, 10.0.1.2
update the airport.
now open dc++ and go to preferences (in whichever client you're using it should be really similar). if you go to whatismyip.com - this site will tell you what your isp has assigned to you as your IP addess. you can also find it in the network settings somewhere.
ok so in dc++, go to preferences, network tab, select active and hit the advanced button.
address: the IP address you pulled from whatismyip.com
download port: 32000
search port: 32000
i used 32000 because, for some weird reason, whatever port i arbitrarily decided to open and use, dc++ would change the advanced setting from my port to 32000. so i went back and opened that port instead, and i was active.
you should be set. let me know if something is still ****ed up.

This is a good product, at least it could be.
the Mac version gets me booted from hubs because of the tags, not being right(im not sure what that means but its not fair)
I am sure you could fix this with not too much effort. there has not been a Mac update in ages.
Please do a Mac update
Thanks

As for the Mac version, this is the worst program EVER!!!! I can't get on my school's hub simply because they didn't put a description for the hub. Seriously, very disappointed with the low quality of this program. Can you game on a mac.

Serious flaws in file naming and creation makes DC for X dangerous.
First I must join the line of thankful mac-users, this is the first really usable client for the dc network. However, one should be aware of certain weaknesses that may harm your computer. Firstly, files with names with non-ascii (Latin-1) characters can be downloaded but the names are garbled, two latin-1 characters add upp to one unicode character in the filename, sometimes this creates unfortunate filenames that cannot be deleted in the Finder.
More alarmingly, files created by DC doesn't always create correct data in the file structure, or the HFS+ tree. This means that the files are reported as erroneous when the machine is booted under OS 9. I made the mistake of deleting such a file while running OS 9 with the unfortunate result that many files were lost from my hard disk due to a partially destroyed file structure.

If youre going to download this, you should have a broadband connection. 99% of the people have broadband. You're going to be sharing large files!

momenth reviewed v1.1.0 on Apr 14, 2003

Version 1.01 was better. For me, the only noticeable change with this version is that you're forced to use a shorter username. 1 point off for that. So until you fix the username-length, I'm using the previous version.
-For those having trouble with hubs that don't see your share-size:
It's not DC:s fault. It's the hubsoftware, like DC++ hubsoft, that's not compatible with NMDC. -If it bothers you, try writing 'mac-user' in your userinfo. Most hubowners/admins are aware that there's no 'tags' sent that's compatible in DC++.
JavaDC suck bigtime. Buggy as h*ll. -Don't use it. -Latest release is from 2001.
DC for linux is hard to use and it's very common amongst hubowners to kick user with this client, since it's disliked and a source of trouble for other users.
Use NeoModus DC. -Best alternative for MacOS X!

i cannot download the file, how do i make

anonym reviewed v1.0 on Dec 24, 2002

It seems that the OS X NeoModus Dc doesn't send $MyINFO (info on share size, connection etc.). Ops will kick you for sharing 0 bytes, and some more advanced hubs won't even let you connect (they require your client to send $MyINFO before they allow you to use the hub).
